Monday and Tuesday are Dane’s Favorite Days!

Friday, November 9th, 2012

He knows that they come after Sunday. He knows them in that order. He thinks, neigh, wishes, that everyday is Monday or Tuesday. The other days of the week mean very little to him. (OK, he likes Monday and Friday, as those are days that he gets to go to school and see the “teacher” and “dance”.)

Monday is the day that Dane gets to “help Daddy” and take out the trash. He’s very serious about this, serious business and all. Dane is now tasked with taking a bag to the “trash can”. He drops the “garbage” in the “trash can” for the “garbage truck” to come and take it to the “dump”. (The 15 year old in me laughs every time that he says “dump”.) The “garbage truck”, as well as the “trash can” are fully equipped with “circle-wheels”, which unbeknownst to Mommy, Dane likes to spin and play with on trash day. “Ewwwww, yucky trash.” (Dane giggles when you say “ewwwww”, “yucky”, “gooey”, or any other silly words.)

There are many nights sitting in Dane’s room, reading him a book or two before bed time, that he motions toward the window behind him, and speaks lovingly of the “trash can”, “trash”, “circle-wheels”, etc. He’s just starting to get the idea of recycling, which is cool, as waste is so 1990’s. Remember, the less crap we throw away, the more cool nature spots Dane will be able to check out. (That certainly doesn’t require you to hoard. You know who I’m talking about ;-}.)

On a side not, Dane likes to repeat the names of all of his family members. He particularly likes to say “Paw-Paw”. Sadly, trash, and trash can, sound like “Uncle Joshy” to Dane. So, Uncle Joshy, no offense meant if Dane calls you trash can when you see him next. By no means have we spoken to him about any of the spots where you meet some of the women you take home.
